Watching gymnastics in the Olympics brings back some great memories for former Olympian Terin Humphrey. Humphrey was recently in Birmingham to coach a gymnastics camp at Mountain Brook Gymnastics. Following her time in the Olympics, Humphrey went on to compete at the University of Alabama.

She was the first Olympian to be part of the Crimson Tide gymnastics program and expectations were high. I came on campus and I saw my face on a billboard, and I'm like, OK, the entire Alabama is ready for me to do to do a good job. Despite the pressure, Humphrey found a lot of success during her time in Tuscaloosa. She won two national championships on uneven bars and earned multiple All-American honors.
While she experienced the highs of winning medals and championships, behind closed doors, Humphrey was one of hundreds of gymnasts who suffered sexual abuse at the hands of a doctor for USA Gymnastics. The scandal has been a black eye on the sport, but Humphrey said USA Gymnastics today is not the same as it was 20 years ago when she competed.
They change how they're doing things.
