Chinese writer Lu Xun is widely regarded as the founder of modern Chinese literature. His writings addressed. He and his two younger brothers received a classical Chinese education based on Confucian texts.

His family's financial situation deteriorated during his early years because of his grandfather's imprisonment for bribery; family resources were exhausted in appeals for clemency for his grandfather.
